My life (and why I blog)

Hello readers,

Before you continue reading on this blog, I think that I ought to explain a few things about myself.

#1. I was homeschooled.

Now, don’t start thinking that I lived in a box with a laptop and a few crusts of bread. No, I was raised on a beautiful farm with my two brothers, three sisters, two happily married parents, a dog, roughly twenty cats, and plenty of other animals. I didn’t go to school until I started university in fall of 2016. My upbringing was filled with mixed blessings, but God works everything out for good.

#2. I grew up on a farm.

Not a hobby farm, petting zoo (our house is the real zoo:)), or Hutterite farm, but a real chickens-cows-tractors-and-haybales farm. During the summer, we raise broiler chickens, turkeys, around 100 cow/calf pairs, rabbits, laying hens, mini donkeys, llamas/alpacas, sheep, and goats. During the winter, we do not have broiler chickens or turkeys, but we still have the rest of the animals to look after. We’ve been a family farm operation for nearly 20 years, and if you want to know more about the farm, you can visit our website.

#3. I am Catholic. Strongly Catholic.

Simply put, the Catholic Church is the church that Jesus Christ founded. Although mistakes throughout history can be attributed to the church, I advise you to double-check your facts and dig deeper. I also wish to say one thing in our defense: we are all human, and we all make mistakes. Many of these historic wrong-doings were not sanctioned by the Church, but were the result of human error. In Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s words:

“There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be.”

#4. In case you don’t like what you’re hearing……..

If you don’t like this blog, then you may want to find something else. The things that I say may not make everyone laugh, and the things that I tell you may be unpleasant to hear. The only reason that I blog is because it is my corner of the world where I can be myself and share the faith.

God bless you all!

  1. Can’t wait to read more! I was homeschooled myself, and I am currently homeschooling my own kids. Unfortunately, we do not live in anything anywhere near as large as a farm, but we’re praying for a house one day. 🙂

  2. I home school too!!! And LOVE my Catholic faith!!!! It’s so cool to find another Catholic teen blogger out there!! I’m not alone!! Keep up the good work and come check out my blog!! Blessings, Monica 😀
